Terence Kiely

Terry Kiely talks about growing up in Dublin, playing GAA locally and following Kevin Heffernan's Dublin footballers in the 1970s and 1980s. He later joined the Irish Army and spent time in the Lebanon, before living in different cities across Europe and eventually settling in Dusseldorf where he started to run an Irish pub. He talks about the Irish community in the area and being involved in the local GAA club in the 1990s, which folded after a few years and has proved difficult to revive. Terry talks about the benefits of the GAA to the Irish overseas and outlines the obstacles faced by people trying to sustain a GAA club in places like Dusseldorf.
