Maurice Walsh

Maurice Walsh talks about growing up in Kilmoyley, an area in Kerry with deep rooted hurling traditions. His parents interest in the GAA is discussed, as is his own involvement with club, school and university. Walsh talks about returning home to play for Kilmoyley at weekends and the lapse in his GAA participation. He mentions his marriage into a strong GAA family and his re-connection with club life through the Mungret club. Walsh considers the changing structures of the Mungret club, the difficulty of maintaining involvement after underage, given various counter-attractions. Walsh talks also about the prospects of his own children’s emigration and the role of the GAA in easing their transition to a life abroad.
