The recent evidence confirms Kilkenny's hugely impressive record in these competitions.

Ultimately it means Conahy Shamrocks and Tullaroan will carry significant expectation into their respective encounters this weekend.

Since 2005 nine Kilkenny teams have contested the All Ireland Intermediate Club Hurling Final, winning six.

In the Junior grade 12 Kilkenny outfits have reached the decider, claiming eight titles.

Naomh Eanna, though, have enjoyed a splendid adventure themselves and will be keen to examine Tullaroan's credentials in Parnell Park.

Naomh Eanna prevailed in Ulster after a gripping final packed with drama went to a penalty shoot-out. Goalkeeper Martin Curran made four saves to ensure the Antrim club advanced to the national stages.

With Padraic and Tommy Walsh instrumental Tullaroan gleaned Kilkenny and Leinster honours during a lively 2019. Now the challenge is to build on the solid foundation that has been established once again.

The other Intermediate tussle features a gritty Tooreen side, who chalked up a fine triumph out west.

With a string of accomplished dual players such as Fergal Boland, the Mayo side will be eager to deliver against Fr O'Neills.

The Cork and Munster standard bearers have carried out vital work in the underage ranks unearthing the Millericks and Declan Dalton, who continue to contribute dynamic displays.

Conahy Shamrocks and Eoghan Rua collide in Inniskeen on Saturday afternoon.

Sean Leo McGoldrick remains an influential figure for Eoghan Rua.

In Kilmallock on Sunday Connemara club Micheal Breathnach face Cork's Russell Rovers.

Josh Beausang and Brian Hartnett supplied the key scores in the Munster final success over St Mary's, but Breathnach's will be afforded the utmost respect.

Having lost the Galway Intermediate Football Final following a replay, several of the Breathnach's panel responded to secure Junior Provincial hurling glory.
