Kilkenny's Sheehan an injury doubt for All-Ireland Final

By John Harrington

Kilkenny manager, Brian Cody, has revealed that Bill Sheehan is an injury-doubt for the All-Ireland SHC Final against Tipperary on August 18.

Sheehan, who impressed as a substitute in Kilkenny’s quarter-final and semi-final wins over Cork and Limerick, pulled his hamstring in training recently.

“Bill did tweak his hamstring the other night so we'll have to wait and see how he is,” confirmed Cody today at Kilkenny’s All-Ireland Final media day in Langton’s Hotel in Kilkenny.

“Other than that we're hopeful. Again, we have another bit of a training session to go through so anything can happen. It was in training it happened Bill.

“You'd be hoping you'd have everyone available, everybody wants an injury-free panel, but it's never as straight-forward as that, probably.”

This will be the seventh All-Ireland Final that Kilkenny and Tipperary will have contested during Cody’s long reign in charge of the team.

The previous six have been fairly epic encounters, and the Kilkenny manager is expecting more of the same this time.

“It has been (epic), yeah,” said Cody. “I'm sure there have been a fair few games that have been very entertaining I suppose for the people that wanted to look at it with unbiased eyes.

“Look, we're where we want to be, they're where they want to be. It'll be fought out on the day and whichever team is best prepared for it on the day will win it.”
