Galway star Joe Canning has been voted GAA.ie Hurler of the Week.

The prolific Portumna clubman earned 9,134 votes on the Official GAA Instagram page with Shane Kingston second and Tony Kelly third.

Joe Canning was at his brilliant best as Galway defeated Kilkenny in the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship at Pearse Stadium.

Canning finished with 1-12, including four points from play, for the Tribesmen, who face Wexford next Saturday evening.

Shane Kingston showed his attacking class with a 1-5 haul in the Thurles thriller involving Tipperary and Cork.

Kingston is one of the most promising hurlers in the game and demonstrated his class with some splendid shooting at Semple Stadium.

Tony Kelly was inspirational as Clare claimed a critical Munster Championship win over Waterford at Cusack Park.

The gifted Ballyea clubman rifled over six sweet points from play for Donal Moloney and Gerry O'Connor's team.
