Dublin manager Jim Gavin was satisfied with Jack McCaffrey and Cian O’Sullivan’s return to competitive action in the Leinster SFC semi-final win over Longford at Croke Park.

A back problem suffered by goalkeeper Stephen Cluxton will be assessed in the coming days, but Gavin is encouraged by McCaffrey and O’Sullivan’s availability.

McCaffrey made his first appearance in the sky blue jersey since a cruciate ligament injury picked up in last year’s All Ireland Final, while O’Sullivan also featured following a shoulder issue.

“Jack hasn’t played a representative fixture yet, but he has been playing in the background with us for a number of weeks, Cian has as well,” Gavin remarked.

“It is great to see them back on the pitch, they played their part in the second half, absolutely.”

When asked about the extent of Cluxton’s injury Gavin replied: “We will review that now in the next 24 to 48 hours just to assess the situation.”

Ultimately Gavin was content with how Dublin dealt with the Longford challenge by registering a commanding 2-25 to 0-12 triumph.

“It is a semi-final we look at it that way, this was a job to be done, it is on to the final, and that is where we want to be,” Gavin stated.
