Counihan appointed Cork's Project Co-ordinator for Football

Former All-Ireland winning Cork football manager, Conor Counihan, as been appointed the county's Project Co-ordinator for Football.

Former All-Ireland winning Cork football manager, Conor Counihan, as been appointed the county's Project Co-ordinator for Football.

Following the conclusion of the recent recruitment process, Cork County Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Conor Counihan (Aghada) to the position of Project Co-ordinator for Football. This position is a newly-created three-year role which has as its key remit the implementation of the #2024 Five-Year Plan for Cork Football. 

A former All-Ireland winning footballer (1989 & 1990), Conor managed the Cork Senior Football team from 2008 to 2013, winning three Munster titles (2008, 2009 and 2012), four Allianz League titles (2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012) and of course, the 2010 All-Ireland Final. In recent years, he has been actively involved with Rebel Óg development squads and is a member of the board of Cairde Chorcaí.

Commenting on the appointment, County Chairperson, Tracey Kennedy said "We are delighted that Conor applied successfully for this position, which is vital to the future of Cork football. Conor brings with him a huge amount of experience in all aspects of Cork football, along with a passion and drive that is immeasurable, and on behalf of the County Board, I would like to welcome him to our team and wish him every success in this new role."
