Guidelines on Advanced Radiology

Technology is a critical component of modern day sports medicine.

Whilst providing a cutting edge in terms of accurate diagnosis, it also raises issues such as cost, accuracy of interpretation and unnecessary use.

Following advice from a number of relevant personnel we enclose a copy of qualification criteria, radiologists/imaging centres and indications for MRI.

We appreciate the demands on team managers, team doctors and other official’s regards access to high-tech medicine.

We feel however that “best practice” is served by the recommendation that only the centres/radiologists listed in the attached fulfil the criteria.

We encourage therefore that within our organisation, as far as possible the recommended centres/radiologists are used for advanced radiological procedures.
