One of Cork’s most famous names – Seán Óg Ó hAilpín – will host a very special ***Bord Gáis Energy Legends Tour ***of Croke Park on the eve of the All-Ireland hurling finals. The former dual county star will reflect on his time playing at GAA Headquarters and recall tales of his time as an All-Ireland winning captain.  The tour takes place at 12.00 on Saturday 3rd of September.

The Na Piarsaigh man is a member of one of the Rebel County’s most famous sporting families and won three GAA All-Ireland Hurling titles with Cork in 1999, 2004 and 2005 as well as one National Hurling League in 1998 and five Munster Hurling crowns. His 2005 All-Ireland winning captain’s speech is one of the most memorable in GAA history as the boy who only moved to Ireland aged 8 years old delivered it in fluent Irish.

In a career which lasted from 1996 to 2012, Seán Óg also represented Cork in Gaelic football, winning a National League medal and a Munster senior title in the code in 1999.

On a personal level, Seán Óg has received every accolade within the GAA including three All Star awards in 2003, 2004 and 2005. The year 2004 was an extraordinary one in which he claimed the RTÉ Sports Person of the Year, the All Star Hurler of the Year, the GPA Hurler of the Year and the Texaco Hurler of the Year in the same season. He was also named on the Munster Team of the last 25 years (1984 – 2009).

Seán Óg remains one of the GAA’s most recognisable stars and this tour around the iconic stadium just before the All-Ireland hurling final promises to be a real treat for fans of  the game.
