Preview: Laois v Galway

Saturday February 3

Allianz Hurling League Division 1B

Laois v Galway, O'Moore Park, 7pm

Under pressure for vast chunks of last Sunday's game against Antrim the reigning League and All Ireland champions managed to finish with a flourish.

Galway only started with six of the team that beat Waterford last September so the emphasis was very much on experimentation.

The following day despite Ross King's continued excellence Laois never seriously troubled a focused Limerick at the Gaelic Grounds. Laois improvement is necessary.

LAOIS: Enda Rowland; Colm Stapleton, Leigh Bergin, Donncha Hartnett; Podge Lawlor, Matthew Whelan, Eric Killeen; James Ryan, Patrick Purcell; Aidan Corby, Ben Conroy, Cian Taylor; Ross King, Neil Foyle, Willie Dunphy.

GALWAY: James Skehill; Adrian Tuohey, John Hanbury, Shane Bannon; Greg Lally, Padraig Mannion, Aidan Harte; Johnny Coen, Padraig Brehony; Sean Linnane, Joseph Cooney, Niall Burke; Conor Whelan, Conor Cooney, Davey Glennon.
