GAA.ie Hurler of the Week

1: Mark Coleman (Cork) 4218 votes (49%)

2: Conor Whelan (Galway) 2428 votes (28%)

3: Patrick Horgan (Cork) 2014 votes (23%)

Another one of Cork’s senior hurling starlets is wing-back Mark Coleman, who made a name for himself with a fantastic display at left half-back against Waterford.

Coleman, 19, is one of the youngest members of the panel, but has proven that he doesn’t shy away from the big occasion and flourished on another memorable day for Cork at Semple Stadium.

Coleman’s beautifully executed sideline cut was one of the highlights in Cork’s victory.

Galway’s Conor Whelan is really coming of age in 2017 and on Sunday he registered another remarkable haul.

The 20 year-old scored an astonishing 0-7 from play as Galway outclassed Offaly to advance to a Leinster Final with Wexford.

Renowned for his his extremely hard work in the forward line, it appears that Whelan has added that extra scoring threat this year having scored 0-12 from play in two Championship matches so far.

Patrick Horgan accumulated 10 points as Cork booked a Munster final date with Clare, overcoming Derek McGrath’s Waterford on a scoreline of 0-23 to 1-15.

Horgan returned to free-taking duties on Sunday - Conor Lehane took the frees against Tipperary - and showed his true class putting over seven frees and one 65.

The Glen Rovers man has produced two excellent displays for Cork in their triumphs over Tipperary and Waterford.
