GAA.ie Hurler of the Week nominees
Kyle Hayes (Limerick)
The 20-year-old centre-forward was outstanding in Sunday’s All-Ireland SHC Final, decisively winning his head-to-head battle with Galway’s power-house centre-back Gearoid McInerney.
Hayes scored four really classy points, tackled Galway ball-carriers with great ferocity, and was a hugely important ball-winning outlet in attack throughout the match for the Treaty County.
Joe Canning (Galway)
Canning crowned another brilliant season with a heroic performance for Galway in Sunday’s All-Ireland SHC Final.
He did his best to inspire his team-mates by bringing the fight to Limerick all day and finished with a personal tally of 1-10. He was the driving force behind Galway’s unlikely comeback in injury-time that fell just short.
Declan Hannon
Limerick centre-back Hannon produced a captain’s display in the All-Ireland Final.
He mopped up a huge amount of ball in front of his full-back line and his clearances were almost always well judged. He crowned a fine performance with two inspirational first-half points.
