Barry Nash (Limerick)

A big man with quick wrists is always a dangerous proposition in hurling as Limerick’s Barry Nash proved once again in Limerick’s All-Ireland U-21 semi-final win over Galway.

He finished the match with four points from play to his name, and there was a touch of class to all of them.

Thanks to his size the South Liberties man is a very effective ball-winner, but he’s also blessed with serious skill too which makes him a very difficult player to contain for opposition defences.

Thomas Monaghan (Galway)

Thomas Monaghan showed why he’s a member of the Galway senior panel and regarded as one of the most talented young hurlers in the country by producing a seriously classy performance in Saturday’s All-Ireland U-21 semi-final.

He scored four points from play and was a key cog in a Galway half-forward line that gave the Limerick defence all sorts of problems for much of the match.

Fast, skilful, and with an eye for a score, we’ll be hearing a lot about Monaghan in the years to come.

Shane Walsh (Kilkenny)

Shane Walsh was the pick of Kilkenny’s high-scoring forwards in their all too easy 8-35 to 0-7 victory over Derry in Saturday’s All-Ireland U-21 hurling semi-final.

The Tullaroan man finished with a personal tally of 2-7, 2-3 of which came from play, and pretty much terrorised the Derry defence whenever he got his hands on the ball.

Shane is a younger brother of Tommy and Padraig Walsh and it looks like he has what it takes to play for the Kilkenny senior team himself some day soon.
