The Tribesmen were ruthless over Ger Cunningham’s Dublin, while Wexford overcame the Laois challenge. Westmeath put up a resilient display against Offaly for the majority of the game before the Faithful struck crucial late goal.

This week’s GAA.ie Hurler of the week nominees are Shane Dooley (Offaly), Conor Whelan (Galway) and Conor McDonald (Wexford).

The voting process is simple: retweet the image of your chosen player on the GAA's official Twitter account (@officialgaa) or like their image on the GAA's official Facebook and Instagram pages. Voting will close at 10am on Tuesday, May 30 and the winner will be announced on GAA.ie.

Shane Dooley (Offaly)

** **

Coming up against a Westmeath side that were fortunate to emerge from the Leinster round-robin Offaly were warm favourites entering Saturday’s match.

Westmeath, however, put in a defiant display and ended on a total of 1-20, but unfortunately for them their last line of defence, that has only let in a single goal in all three round-robin ties, succumbed to four Offaly goals with three of them coming from Shane Dooley.

The excellent Dooley scored a penalty, ending the game with 3-8 as Offaly won by 4-15 to 1-20.

Conor Whelan (Galway)

** **

Conor Whelan continues to develop and the Kinvara youngster struck five points from play for Galway against Dublin.

Whelan is renowned for his work rate in the forward line, but this year he scored well during the Allianz Hurling League and has brought that form to the early stage of the Leinster Championship as Galway defeated Dublin.

Whelan was fearless in the inside forward line causing problems for Dublin, who struggled to deal a talented Galway attack.

Conor McDonald (Wexford)

Coming out of the Leinster Round-Robin with three victories, Laois came in to the Wexford game with some confidence, but were beaten by Davy Fitzgerald's Wexford.

In a 3-25 to 1-17 victory it was star-man Conor McDonald, who top scored with 0-9.

McDonald worked tirelessly during the match registering four points from play for Wexford, who now face Kilkenny on June 10.
