The Munster senior hurling championship rarely disappoints and this Sunday kicked off the provincial championship with a classic at the home of hurling as Cork edged out the All-Ireland champions in some style.

While, in the Christy Ring Cup, Carlow and Antrim will now meet in the Final after recording semi-final wins over Wicklow and Down respectively.

This week’s GAA.ie Hurler of the Week’s nominees are Shane Kingston (Cork), Michael Breen (Tipperary) and John Michael Nolan (Carlow).

The voting process is simple: retweet the image of your chosen player on the GAA's official Twitter account (@officialgaa) or like their image on the GAA's official Facebook and Instagram pages. Voting will close at 10am on Tuesday, May 23 and the winner will be announced on GAA.ie.

Conor Lehane (Cork)

Finishing as top-scorer with 0-10 points, five of them from play, Conor Lehane led the Cork charge against Tipperary on Sunday from first minute until last.

Over the course of the game he came up against both of the Maher brothers, Paudie and Ronan, at different times, and dominated them in a way we've rarely seen before.

Not only was his finishing top-class, his ability to win ball, especially from Cork puck-outs, was key to his team's victory.

Michael Breen (Tipperary)

The class Michael Breen still shone through despite Tipperary's defeat to Cork on Sunday.

Operating at centre-forward Breen slotted over six points from play as he kept Michael Ryan’s men in touching distance throughout.

He made his name as a midfielder last year, but the Ballina clubman is clearly an adaptable player and his hard-running and accurate shooting proved problematic throughout the match for the Cork defence.

John Michael Nolan (Carlow)

Carlow may have been relegated from the Leinster round-robin senior hurling championship this time last year but a win over Wicklow on Saturday has brought them one step closer to reclaiming senior hurling status.

In that victory John Michael Nolan top-scored from play with five points to his name as Carlow ran out 0-24 to 2-8 winners to book a Christy Ring Cup final date with Antrim.

Playing around the half-forward line, Nolan tormented the Wicklow defenders and put in a man-of-the-match display to help see off the Garden County.
