Mary Immaculate Limerick v WIT, Carnmore GAA Club, 12.45pm

The Limerick teacher-training college have lived up to their billing of dark horses for this season's honours and will feel they are more than capable of coming away with a first premier title this weekend. With an inter-county spine to the team the availability of Conor Cooney is potentially crucial. A key part of the St.Thomas's team which will play in Croke Park on March 17th, Cooney would be sorely missed if he chooses to take a step back from the Fitzgibbon weekend. Having said that, former winner John Conlon (NUIG 2010) and Declan Hannon will lead by example and with or without Cooney WIT face a tough task.

WIT will have bitter memories of Conlon's triumph, losing to then-hosts NUIG three years ago. Killkenny goalkeeper Eoin Murphy leads the charge further out the field for the Institute and the with likes of Waterford seniors Wayne Hutchinson, Liam Lawlor & Noel Connors in defense they will hoping to stifle the Shannonsiders threat. Harry Kehoe and Gavin O'Brien will be the principal scoring threats having impress in the quarter-final victory over Limerick IT.

UCC v UCD, Carnmore GAA Club, 2.30pm

This classic Fitzgibbon tie is a mouth-watering prospect for hurling enthusiasts and should draw a big crowd to Carnmore. UCD's star studded line up is matched by defending champions UCC.

Inter-County stars potentially in action include for UCD Noel McGrath (Tipperary), Jack Guiney and Garret Sinnot (both Wexford) and a trio of Kilkenny injury doubts:Walter Walsh, John Tennyson & Cillian Buckley. Meanwhile UCC boast Cork's Conor Lehane and William Egan as well Waterford duo Darragh Fives & Brian O'Sullivan.

It could well prove that Noel McGrath might be the difference between the two sides as he came up trumps for the Belfield side in the final minutes of their quarter-final against UL.
