2012 All Stars win thriller in Shanghai

Saturday, November 30, 2013

Saturday's All Star exhibition match in Shanghai unsurprisingly was a thriller, with the 2012 All Stars recording a 10-4 to 6-13 win over the 2013 side.

The match was held at Shanghai rugby club in Pudong on Saturday afternoon, and the 2012 team led more or less all the way through. The star of the show was Mickey Barry, a member of the Asian GAA association. Barry hit three goals in the second half for his side.

Among the other 2012 team goalscorers were Galway star Joe Canning, Kilkenny's Eoin Larkin, Tipperary forward Patrick Maher and Waterford legend John Mullane.

The exhibition game, sponsored by Opel, is the highlight of the historic GAA/GPA trip to China. As well as the main game, the GAA Asian County Board hosted a North Asia v South Asia challenge hurling game, while other activities on the day included a children’s football tournament.
