Mayo claim Connacht FBD honours

Mayo claimed back-to-back Connacht FBD League titles with a 0-14 to 0-4 defeat of NUIG at McHale Park on Friday night.

The Westerners will travel to New York in October following a dominant display against the students, who probably had one eye on their Sigerson Cup clash with St Mary’s, Belfast on Wednesday.

Andy Moran, back in the starting line-up for the first time since recovering from a broken leg, kicked 0-3 as Mayo led 0-8 to 0-3 at half-time.

Conor Mortimer was on song throughout the second half, scoring 0-5 in total, to lead his side to a comfortable win.
