Cork fear that they may be without Patrick Kelly and Colm O’Neill for Sunday's McGrath Cup final against Tipperary and their Allianz League opener against Armagh.

Both limped out of their McGrath Cup semi-final win over CIT last Sunday with hamstring injuries.

"They’re not serious injuries but they’re almost certain to be out of the match at the weekend,” selector Ger O’Sullivan told the Irish Examiner. “They will receive treatment this week, but with the Armagh game less than a fortnight away there’s a chance they might miss that match as well.”

Meanwhile, the Irish Examiner reports that Tipperary manager Declan Ryan is consulting with Liam Sheedy, his predecessor in the Premier County, over the use of Tipperary players in next Saturday’s charity challenge game against a Munster selection.

Sheedy is expected to name a number of Tipperary players in his Munster team for the match being played in aid of Breast Cancer Ireland at MacDonagh Park, Nenagh.

Meanwhile, Tyrone’s Seán Cavanagh, quoted in the Irish Independent, says he is grateful that Tyrone have not gone down the road of early morning sessions, something Dublin have pioneered in recent years.

"At 5.30am in the morning I am trying to put the wee girl back into her cot these days,” he joked. “I couldn't even look at training. Usually I can hardly breathe at that time of the morning, so I don't think the 5.30am sessions would be good.”

Also speaking to the Irish Examiner, Kilkenny’s Henry Shefflin has admitted that he was surprised that Eddie Brennan decided to retire at the start of the season.

"I didn't think Eddie would go,” he said. “He told me he was thinking about it and I said, 'Jesus no Eddie, you'll be grand' and I thought that was it and that he would come back.

"But I was surprised because Eddie has so much to give but it was a great way to go out. And you can totally understand why he would do it -- he has a young family, so you wouldn't try and twist someone's arm.”

Speaking to the Irish Times, Uachtarán CLG Christy Cooney said those who misbehaved during the AIB All-Ireland Junior Cliub semi-final between Derrytresk and Dromid Pearses will be dealt with by the CCCC.

“We’ll always deal with issues like that in a fair and just manner,” said Cooney. “We have to respect people when they’re going through that process and not tarnish everyone with the same brush.

“I’m sure there were a lot of people in Portlaoise that had no involvement in the situation and went there for the purpose of supporting their team. People who have misbehaved have to be dealt with and CCCC will do that.”
