Waterford’s Tony Browne has denied reports that he has called time on his inter-county hurling career.
The 37-year-old Mount Sion clubman was widely reported to have bowed out of the game after 19 seasons at the top level.
However, Browne insists that he has not made any decision on his future and will wait until December to do so.
He is one of the longest serving players in the game and is one of only eight stick men to have played more than 50 Championship games.
Browne’s future has been the subject of intense speculation in recent years. However, the three-time GAA All Star winner has continued to soldier on, amassing 57 Championship appearances in the blue and white in what has been one of the most celebrated careers in the modern game.
Having endured many fallow seasons at the start of his career, Browne won a fourth Munster GAA Championship medal this year, even winning a Vodafone Player of the Month award for the consistency of his performances in the Waterford defence.
Browne, who made his Championship debut in 1992, collected his first GAA All Star award in ’98 for his fine performances at midfield in a team that was narrowly beaten by Clare in the Munster final. He was also crowned Hurler of the Year that season.
Provincial success, however, duly arrived in 2002, ’04 and ’07, while he would also win an Allianz GAA National League medal in the latter year.
Browne reverted to wing-back later in his career and would endure All-Ireland final heartache in 2008, when Waterford were heavily beaten by Kilkenny in the decider.
