Gerry Fahy is the favourite to be appointed as the new Galway football manager following the closing of nominations from clubs on Monday night.
Fahy, who was a Galway selector in 1997, previously managed Offaly and was this year in charge of the Galway minors, who he took the All-Ireland semi-final before losing to Cork.
Former Mayo midfielder Pat Fallon, Tomás Ó Flaharta, the former Westmeath boss, Pete Warren, a selector when John O’Mahony was manager, and Matt Duggan are all also in contention to replace Joe Kernan.
Liam Kearns, who has previously managed Limerick and Laois, has also indicated his interest in the job, but would have to be nominated for the post by the county board.
