Kelly tops Hurling scoring chart

Tipperary captain Eoin Kelly has topped the scoring chart for the 2010 GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship with an impressive tally of 3-43 (52).

The ace attacker’s seven point haul against Kilkenny at the weekend was enough to see him edge past Offaly’s Shane Dooley, who finished with 3-41 (50). It has been a terrific season for Kelly who played a key role in helping his county win their first All-Ireland title since 2001.

Elsewhere, team-mate Lar Corbett and Kilkenny full-forward Richie Power also forced their way into the top ten with good displays in Croke Park on Sunday.

Corbett was the star of the show hitting three goals and that incredible feat means he finishes the season with 6-11 to his name. Power, despite being on the losing side, was also in top form throughout the championship decider but his 1-09 was not enough to help Kilkenny claim their fifth All-Ireland title in a row.

In the GAA Football All-Ireland Senior Championship, Kildare’s John Doyle looks a certainty to claim top-spot despite his county’s exit at the semi-final stage to Down. Doyle, on 1-49, currently sits one point ahead of Dublin’s Bernard Brogan who also played his last game of the competition at the semi-final stage against Cork.

Of the two football finalists Cork’s Daniel Goulding (1-34) and Down’s Martin Clarke (1-27) are quite a distance back and it is unlikely that they will be able to catch the Kildare star.
