Meath are looking for a new Senior football manager after Eamonn O’Brien’s term was not extended last night.
The Meath management committee recommended that he should be given a third year at the helm, but the county’s Clubs voted 32-29 in a secret ballot in favour of removing O'Brien.
In his two years in charge, O’Brien led the Royals to an All-Ireland semi-final and a first Leinster GAA Championship since 2001 this year.
It was expected that the provincial success would help O’Brien’s case for reappointment, but the Clubs staged a dramatic move to end his two-year term.
The Meath County Board are now taking applications for the position, although no names are immediately being linked with the vacant role.
Meanwhile, Dublin hurling manager Anthony Daly will remain in his role for another two years, the Dublin County Board conformed last night.
His selection team of Ciaran Hetherton, Richie Stakelum and Vincent Teehan were also reappointed.
In Monaghan, following a meeting of the county’s management committee last night, a Working Group was appointed to fill the position of Senior football manager.
The county’s Clubs last month opted not to reappoint Seamus McEananey for another three years.
