Dublin forward Paul Ryan has finished the year as the top scorer in the 2011 GAA Hurling Senior Championship.
Ryan’s total of 2-47 (53) was good enough to hold off the competition after Sunday’s All-Ireland final between Tipperary and Kilkenny.
Tipperary captain Eoin Kelly was the only player with realistic ambitions of ousting Ryan in Sunday’s final.
Kelly needed a record-breaking 0-19 to draw level at the top of the pile but could only manage 0-8 and had to settle for fourth place, overtaking Galway's Joe Canning.
The big mover this weekend was nine-time GAA All Star Henry Shefflin, who hit 0-7 to move up three places to sixth.
Tipperary’s Lar Corbett, who failed to score in the final, was overtaken by Shefflin, finishing the year in seventh place with a total of 7-9 (30).
Patrick Horgan of Cork proved to be Ryan’s closest challenger for top honours, finishing six points behind the winner with 3-38 (47), while Antrim’s Neil McManus ended the campaign in third spot with 0-43.
