Ryan O’Dwyer will sit out most of Dublin’s Allianz Hurling League campaign as he continues his rehabilitation from shoulder surgery.
O’Dwyer went under the knife over the winter to resolve a shoulder issue and will be marked absent for the early part of 2013 as a result.
The Tipperary native had a sling removed this week and is not expected to be back in action until the start of April, which means he will miss all of his side’s Allianz League Division 1B group games.
Meanwhile, Sligo’s footballers will be without one of their star forwards, David Kelly, for the 2013 Allianz League, although he is expected to be back in action in time for this summer’s championship.
Kelly was forced to have surgery on a troublesome ankle injury before Christmas.
The Tubbercurry clubman, who won a Connacht title with Sligo in 2007, previously had ankle surgery in 2011 after picking up an injury while playing in the Sigerson Cup with DCU and missed the rest of that season as a result.
However, Sligo manager Kevin Walsh is confident that the diminutive attacker will be available for his side’s championship opener against London on May 26.
