Bernard Dunne, the former WBA Super Bantamweight world champion, has joined the Dublin backroom team.
Dublin manager Jim Gavin confirmed Dunne’s appointment as a ‘performance and lifestyle coach’ following Sunday’s annual Evening Herald Blue Stars challenge match in St. Peregerine’s.
Dunne, who has previously worked with Gavin during spell with the county’s U21 side, has been brought on board to help players to ‘recognise their potential’, the Dublin manager said.
Gavin added that the 32-year-old Neilstown native will not have any involvement in team selection or tactics.
Dunne was on the sideline as Gavin kicked off his first season as Dublin manager with a two-point win (0-16 to 1-11) over the Dubs Stars on New Year’s Day.
