Ratoath stage Intermediate Hurling 11s and Football 7s

Wednesday, September 01, 2010

To whet the appetite ahead of the glamour hurling final between Kilkenny and Tipperary, Ratoath GAA club is set to host the second year of its All-Ireland Intermediate Hurling 11-a-side competition on Saturday, September 5.

The senior and junior 7s tournaments in Kilmacud Crokes and St Jude’s are a long established part of the calendar and this fills the gap for club teams on the biggest hurling weekend of the year.

The Meath club will also host the Intermediate Football 7s on the eve of the GAA Football All-Ireland final with 32 clubs from all over Ireland expected.

Teams compete in group stages over one day at the single venue which boasts 6 pitches for football and 3 full size pitches for hurling with the top eight teams playing in the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. Teams qualify for the 7s amd 11s by winning their county championship or by invitation.

In the hurling tournament, Tullogher-Rosbercon and Glenmore will be representing five-in-a-row chasing Kilkenny with Carrick Davins and defending champions Silvermines flying the flag for Tipperary.

Ratoath GAA would also like to thank official tournament sponsors Tipperary Water and The Residents Hotel, Ashbourne for their generous support.
