Kevin McStay will remain in charge of the Roscommon Senior Football team.

McStay and Fergal O'Donnell acted as joint managers for the 2016 Allianz Football League and Championship.

Roscommon reached the Allianz  Football League Semi-Finals before losing the Connacht Senior Football Final replay against Galway.

Clare subsequently defeated Roscommon in a Round 4A Qualifier at Pearse Stadium.

O'Donnell stepped down from his position on September 7, but a Roscommon GAA statement has been released confirming that McStay will be the boss for 2017 with Liam McHale acting as a selector again.

"At a special metting of Roscommon held tonight (Thursday) the club delegates confirmed the appointment of Kevin McStay as manager of the Roscommon Senior Team," the statement said.

"He will be joined by a backroom team which will include existing selector Liam McHale and others to be named."
