Dublin and Mayo served up an absolute classic of an All-Ireland Final on Sunday that was only settled in injury-time by Dean Rock's nervelessly struck match-winning free.

Rock is one of this week's three GAA.ie Footballer of the Week nominees along with Dublin team-mates James McCarthy and Mayo's Chris Barrett.

Dean Rock (Dublin)

Rock showed tremendous mental strength to to nail the match-winning free for Dublin deep in injury-time. It was well within his range, but it was far from a gimme.

That wasn't his only important contribution to the game, because he was hugely influential throughout the contest.

He scored four points from play which made him Dublin's top scorer, and showed a lot of maturity to fist over a late point that proved so crucial rather than go for the glory goal.

James McCarthy (Dublin)

McCarthy capped off arguably his best season yet in a Dublin jersey with another towering performance in Sunday's All-Ireland SFC Final.

He really thundered into the game in the first half and constantly drove Dublin forward with his ability to run at pace from deep positions.

That willingness to join the attack saw him score two fine second-half points which proved so crucial in a game of very fine margins.

Chris Barrett (Mayo)

The Mayo defence was superb on Sunday and no-one played with more defiance than Belmullet man Chris Barrett.

He made a series of brilliant tackles, more than once cleanly stripping a Dublin ball-carrier of possession, as well as number of key interceptions.

He was more than just a stopper too, with his willingness to get on the front foot consistently giving Mayo ball carriers an option off the shoulder.
