Shane Killoran fisted a late goal to seal a Roscommon win over NUIG at Ballyforan.

Kevin Higgins was prominent in the opening period for Roscommon, who went in 0-11 to 0-6 ahead at the break.

Midfielder Higgins struck three points for Kevin McStay's team against a Maurice Sheridan managed NUIG.

In the closing stages Killoran finished a sweeping move with a goal as Roscommon earned a second successive victory.

Despite a spirited IT Sligo rally, Mayo held out to claim the spoils in Ballina.

Alan Freeman, who scored 1-7, bagged a first half goal for Mayo, who lead by 1-12 to 1-6 at the break against IT Sligo at Ballina.

James Shaughnessy was prominent for IT Sligo, but Cian Costello, James Durcan, and Fergal Boland struck late points for Mayo, who had Donie Vaughan sent off late on.

Promising Galway under 21 player Cillian McDaid rifled two goals for Kevin Walsh's team, who cruised to a surprisingly emphatic win over Leitrim at Ballinamore.

Galway made a flying start scoring three goals in the opening six minutes. Danny Cummins, Cillian McDaid, and Paul Conroy all rattled the Galway net as the Tribesmen accumulated a 3-14 to 0-4 half-time lead.

McDaid and Sean Armstrong decorated Galway's triumph with second half goals.

Brian Egan netted an opening period major for Sligo, who bossed their match with GMIT. Niall Carew's charges were 1-10 to 0-1 in front at the turnaround against an outclassed GMIT side. Criostoir Davey and Stephen Coen, who ended with a 3-5 haul, also hit the GMIT net.
