The GAA will be supporting an upcoming fun run event to promote physical activity in Men organised by the Men’s Health Forum in Ireland (MHFI). The MHFI is a voluntary network of individuals and organisations, men and women, which seeks to identify the key concerns relating to male health and to increase understanding of these issues. The event will also be supported by the Irish Heart Foundation, Marie Keating Foundation, Ulster Cancer Foundation and Irish Cancer Society.
The event will take place in the spectacular surroundings of Ardgillan Castle, near Skerries, in Co. Dublin on Saturday 4th September 2010 and is a follow-on to MHFI’s activities during International Men’s Health Week in June, when local males were called upon to consider the health benefits of increased levels of physical activity. Now, MHFI is inviting males (and females) to set themselves a practical challenge, and to participate in either a 10km or 5km run, or a 3km fun run / walk. Registration is required for the 10km and 5km events, but everyone is welcome to just turn up and take part in the 3km fun run / walk.
Noel Richardson, Chairperson of the Men’s Health Forum in Ireland has stated: “Men from throughout Ireland have already been preparing for this event and, at the same time, dramatically improving their health.
For those who don’t want to take part in the runs, this will also be a great family day out. There are …
