Ag Éisteacht Programme

Ag Eisteacht Programme

Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael,  Críostóir Ó Cuana, announced at the outset of his tenure on his inauguration day in Cork in April 2009 that he intended to roll out a new programme called ‘Ag Éisteacht’, which would see him or Ard Stiúrthóir, Páraic Duffy, visit clubs in every county and some overseas units to listen to the views of club members on all aspects of GAA policy and activity.

The aim of the exercise is two fold:

First, An tUachtarán and the Ard Stiúrthóir of the Association are looking to make a tangible link with the club scene to discuss the various challenges facing clubs.

Second, clubs involved in the programme will get a chance to pose questions on any aspect of the Association and its affairs to either the Ard Stiúrthóir or An tUachtarán.

The meeting is set up in an informal manner and usually involves the Club Executive Committee and a number of other members. Clubs participating are provided with a full report of the meeting, outlining all the issues discussed.

It is hoped that the exchange of opinions and information will help inform clubs of developments at national level and that the experience of interacting with clubs will help keep a vital communications channel open.

The clubs visited so far, includes the following:

  • Fingallians (Dublin)
  • Eadestown (Kildare)
  • Naomh Olaf (Dublin)
  • Scariff (Clare)
  • Slane (Meath)
